The list of ailments and diseases that the human body can be subjected to is very long indeed. The point of Naturopathy (and the main difference between Naturopathy and “mainstream” Western medicine) is that it aims to treat the underlying causes of disease, not just suppress the symptoms. It is our goal to help our patients with any medical problem that other mainstream practitioners can, with the important exception of life-threatening physical injury.

For as good as Naturopathic medicine is, a videoconferencing consultation with a naturopath is, of course, unlikely to repair life-threatening, acute injuries. If you have an acute injury situation, by all means call 911 and follow their first-aid and emergency procedure protocols – your life may depend on it. Once your situation is under control and you are stable, you can seek treatment from a naturopath to enhance your body’s own natural healing capabilities and reduce the recovery time needed to recover from your situation.

Our Naturopathic Doctors are trained to address routine, acute, non-emergent, non-recurrent medical conditions. Some examples include such common clinical problems as: • Respiratory infections • Gastroenteritis • Sinusitis • Bronchitis • Urinary tract infections • Pharyngitis • Seasonal allergies • Prescription refills as appropriate. In addition, our Naturopaths are trained to work with you to find the root cause of the chronic condition and come up with the best treatment plan and approach to lead you to your optimal health.  It is important to let you know that if your condition does require physical examination for diagnosis and treatment we would then refer you to another physician or naturopath in your area.

Typically, your interaction with a Naturopath starts with a comprehensive initial consultation including complete review of systems, medical history and full physical exam. The doctor and new patient will agree to a treatment plan to reach the patient´s health goals within their budget constraints. Length of time will be determined by your health needs.

Follow-up consultations are usually needed – for treatments or to review treatment plan progress. There are many paths to your health goals and your plan will be adjusted as necessary in consultation with the doctor to help you reach your goals.
